How FRED Works

FRED connects to your Amazon account through Amazon's official OAuth authorization flow — the same secure method used by other Amazon-approved applications.

Secure Authorization

You authorize FRED through Amazon's Login with Amazon (LWA) OAuth 2.0 flow. FRED receives a refresh token that grants access to the specific data roles you approve. You can revoke access at any time through Seller Central. No passwords are shared or stored.

Data Collection & Analysis

FRED pulls data from the Selling Partner API (orders, inventory, finances, listings, advertising) and analyzes it using AI models to identify opportunities, risks, and optimizations specific to your account.

Recommendations & Approvals

FRED generates specific, data-backed recommendations — bid adjustments, keyword additions, listing copy improvements, inventory alerts. Changes above your defined thresholds require your explicit approval before execution.

Execution & Reporting

Approved changes are executed via the SP-API and Amazon Advertising API. Every action is logged with full reasoning. You receive daily briefings summarizing performance, actions taken, and recommendations pending your review.

FRED uses artificial intelligence to analyze your Amazon data and generate recommendations. We believe in full transparency about how AI is used in managing your account.

AI Models Used

FRED uses Anthropic's Claude language models (Claude Haiku for high-volume monitoring tasks, Claude Sonnet for daily operational analysis, and Claude Opus for strategic reviews) to analyze account data, generate recommendations, and produce reports. AI models process your Amazon data to identify patterns, opportunities, and risks.

Accuracy & Limitations

AI-generated recommendations are based on historical data patterns and may not account for all market variables. FRED provides reasoning for every recommendation so sellers can evaluate the analysis. Advertising bid recommendations are based on historical conversion data and target metrics set by the seller. Inventory forecasts are estimates based on sales velocity trends and may not account for external demand shifts. Sellers should review AI recommendations in the context of their broader business strategy.

Data Freshness

Amazon Selling Partner API data is refreshed according to Amazon's standard API update cadences. Financial data is typically available with a 24-48 hour delay from Amazon. Advertising data is refreshed daily. Inventory levels are checked every 4-6 hours. Sellers should be aware that real-time data may differ from what is displayed due to Amazon's processing timelines.

Data Handling

  • All seller data accessed through the SP-API is used exclusively to provide FRED's services to the authorizing seller.
  • Data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for any purpose other than delivering FRED's functionality to that specific seller.
  • All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+ and at rest using AES-256 encryption.
  • Data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure via Supabase with enterprise-grade security.
  • Sellers can revoke FRED's access at any time through Amazon Seller Central, which immediately terminates FRED's ability to access their data.
  • Upon access revocation or account termination, all seller data is deleted within 30 days.

Approval Controls

Sellers configure approval thresholds that determine which actions FRED can execute automatically and which require explicit seller approval. For example, sellers may allow automatic bid adjustments within a defined percentage range while requiring approval for new campaign creation or budget changes above a set dollar amount. Sellers can adjust these thresholds at any time and can set FRED to advisory-only mode where no changes are executed without approval.

FRED is built with security as a foundational requirement, not an afterthought.

Encryption

All data encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). API credentials stored in encrypted database columns with row-level security isolation between accounts.

Access Controls

Role-based access controls restrict data access to authorized personnel only. Every data access event is logged in an audit trail. No seller data is stored on local machines or personal devices.

Infrastructure

Hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) with VPC isolation, automated backups, and disaster recovery procedures. Infrastructure monitored 24/7 with automated alerts for anomalies.

Incident Response

Documented incident response plan with defined roles, regular reviews, and commitment to report security incidents involving Amazon data to security@amazon.com within 24 hours of detection.
